I don't know if this has been elaborated to you but regarding the whitewashed Mulan--I believe she's wearing a Tang Dynasty era dress (pretty obvious from the neckline and outer robe and plus, it's the most (inaccurately) over-used historical Chinese clothing other than the qipao/cheongsam) but idk about the hair+hairpiece though, Tang women put their hair up in an updo and plus, Mulan allegedly lived in the Northern Wei dynasty, which is like, 100-200 years before the Tang dynasty... Ugh
